The fundamental goal of mosaic as an art form is to project an optical unity from a fractured yet organized assemblage of glass or marble pieces
called "tesserae".
This ancient art expression possesses an almost magical ability to evoke on the onlooker different reactions and feelings at different times and
under different conditions. One of its great advantages is also its durability. Millenary works are still discovered and brought to light in
many parts of the ancient world. Pluricentenary works can still be admired in all their colorful glory. Mosaic art is the only one that does not
fade with time and therefore maintains and transmits its attraction through the ages. While their execution is somewhat limited nowadays because
of many steps involved, the true art connoisseurs and sophisticated art lovers value mosaics because of their versatility and appeal.
Fortunately, today we are experiencing a renaissance of this ancient art and that bodes well both for the art itself and for the lucky owners of
these pieces.
